HGY6 Self-Assessment and Guidance

Only God can heal you, but you must seek Him. HGY6 is here to give you resources to guide and help you maintain your walk with God.  If you are willing to take the steps, work hard and stay committed to seeking Gods help, He promises us He will never leave us.

What are you doing to connect with God each day?

  1. Do you read God’s Word (The Bible) and Pray every day? Try this for the next 40 days and your life will change. Then keep it up!
    1. When you wake up, just talk to God. Thank Him and ask Him to guide your day.
    1. Get up and find a quiet place.
    1. Read at least one passage in the Bible. Start with the Gospel of John.
    1. If you want maximum impact in your life, repeat the steps above before bed (Thank God for your day, Read the Bible and Pray).
  2. What do your ears hear each day?
    1. Make it a habit to listen to sermons or listen to a worship music radio station.
    1. Do you hang out and listen to people that are negative, gossiping, putting others down or using foul language?
      1. This is hard, but you may just need to walk away and remove yourself from those situations and people.
      1. You can be bold and let them know politely and with grace that you would rather talk about something else, and that foul language is something that you are trying not to use so they could help you out by not using it in your conversations.
  3. What do your eyes see every day?
    1. Do you guard what you look at on your computer and phone?
      1. Turn from sinful behavior, seek God during these evil temptations. God will have your back if you seek Him.
    1. What do you watch on TV?
      1. What you feed your body will influence your behavior. Good in Good out! If you are allowing filth into you, it will take root and fester.
  4. What are your daily actions?
    1. Do you show grace, mercy and patience or just do what others are doing.
    1. Would people know that you are a Christian just by watching how you act?
    1. Try and actively live out Luke 6:31 “Do to others as you would like them to do to you.”
    1. Do you go out of your way to help others, not just at work but for strangers, Gods children.

What are you doing to connect with God throughout the week?

  1. Are you part of a small group?
    1. Find one or start one.
    1. Having people that you can be open with your struggles and hardships in life is the key to maintaining and strengthening your relationship with God.
  2. Do you belong to a church?
    1. Find one that teaches from the Bible verse by verse and is true to what the Bible says.  There are many out there and none are perfect, but the key is to be in fellowship with others.
    1. Don’t buy into what others say about church, or a bad past experience as an excuse not to attend.
    1. Church is just one part of your walk with God.
    1. We are all sinners; church goers are not exempt.
    1. The devil wants nothing more than you to stay disconnected.

Do you have a verse that you can go to when evil is attacking you?

  1. Find a verse or verses, this becomes easier when are doing the actions above.

  3. James 4:7-8 – “7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”
  4. 1 Peter 5:8 “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”
  5. John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
  6. Ephesians 6:12 “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
  7. Matthew 11:28-30 28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
